Is There a Link Between an Unhealthy Heart and Gum Disease?

It has always been known that healthy teeth and gums are essential components of a bright smile. Still, trips to the dentist may provide many more benefits other than oral health alone.

Scientists have found that post-menopausal women diagnosed with periodontal disease and tooth loss are at a higher risk of developing other serious medical conditions over time.

– Women with a history of periodontal disease were 12 per cent more likely to die earlier from a variety of conditions.

– The chances of cardiovascular disease correlate with the amount of teeth that are lost.

– These conditions can be counteracted by adopting effective oral hygiene techniques and regularly visiting a dental practitioner.
