Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is a growing problem among adolescents. A recent study has found that teens ranging from 13 to 15 who have been subjected to verbal bullying are almost four times more likely to suffer from bruxism than those who were not.
Warning signs of teeth grinding include:
– Disrupted sleep
– Morning headaches
– A sore or painful jaw
If these symptoms appear “schools should be aware of the problem” and if bullying is at the root of the problem the solution will require more than just a visit to the dentist.
