Crowns Treatment London

Crowns are artificially made caps that fit over the remaining part of a prepared tooth to cover and protect it after it has been weakened by decay.

Crowns are custom made for each individual tooth and are available in a range of materials from Gold to porcelain.

Certain treatments such as root canal treatment require a crown to be placed over the treated tooth. This is necessary because once the nerve has been removed, the tooth may turn black, weaken and crumble under pressure.

Crowns are also needed at the end of dental implant treatment. Once the implant has been placed in the bone, the crown acts as a false tooth to fill the gap above the gum line.

Crowns can be placed in as little as 2 appointments. During your first appointment, the tooth is prepared for the crown and impressions taken to ensure a proper fit. When you come back for your second appointment, the dentist will fit the crown using very strong adhesive.

Crown FAQs

How much do crowns cost?

Prices for crowns depend on which tooth is being placed and the material which is used. Please contact us for more information.

What are crowns made of?

Crowns come in various options at Vitality; these are Emax Crowns, porcelain fused to metal crowns, and full metal crowns. Our patients tend to go for the Emax option due to the natural-looking aesthetics and strength.

Will it ever need replacing?

As most things in life, Crowns will last if they are cared for properly. This includes maintaining good oral hygiene by regular brushing, flossing, and visits to the hygienist. Habits such as chewing pens and nail-biting will also decrease the longevity of the crown

Can I eat and drink as normal with a crown?

Not straight after the procedure but you will soon be able to return to eating and drinking as normal.
